CQC & Governance Specialist Consultant
Lisa Tierney has extensive experience as a Care Quality Commission (CQC) specialist advisor and CQC inspector.
Lisa served as a Major in the Army Reserves for 18 years and completed three operational tours to Iraq and Afghanistan in the role of Senior Nursing Officer for operating theatres. She is a non-elected trustee on the board of the Association for Perioperative Practice (AfPP) and represents AfPP on the steering group of the SAFE OR programme, which supports and promotes safe standards of operating theatre practice in low-income countries. She has contributed to developing the programme and has delivered multi-disciplinary teaching on courses in Africa, India, Bangladesh, and the UK.
Following many years in the NHS, Lisa was, until recently, Head of Nursing for The Private Clinic of Harley Street. She worked for over 5 years in the independent cosmetic and aesthetic sector. During this time, she was a CQC Registered Manager for The Private Clinic (Birmingham) and Cosmetic Skin Clinics (Devonshire Place and Stoke Poges).
Lisa was seconded from Liverpool Heart & Chest Hospital to the CQC in July 2015 on a part-time basis. She continues to work for the CQC as a Specialist Advisor, having undertaken numerous inspections in the NHS and private sector.
